Where to go?

Hello!

I recently won a 3 week scholarship from a company that has volunteer bases in several locations in the world. I'm largely going to base my decision on the place that would be most ideal for HDR landscapes because the volunteer work will be similar everywhere. I'm planning on flying out in August but in all reality I have until December.

Having never been out of the continent, my 21 year old narrow scope of the world isn't equipped to decide something this important. I've spent the last 4 years in flat Kansas earning a degree. I'm dying for something different.

Here are my options:

Ghana (Volta Region)
Morocco (Rabat),
South Africa (cape town or Robertson),
Tanzania (Kilimanjaro or Bagamoyo)

Asia:
China (Xi'an)
India (New Delhi or Dharamsala)
Thailand (Bangkok)
Russia (Yaroslavi)

Latin America
Brazil (Salvador)
Costa Rica (San Carlos or Cartago)
Guatemala (Guatemala City)
Peru (Lima)

Help me choose somewhere awesome!

Ok. So I'm going to post some more limiting factors for my trip.

I will most likely be alone when I go shoot so I need somewhere relatively safe.
I'm leaving sometime between Aug and December. I will choose after I've chosen a destination to find the best conditions for that region.
I will not have much money so I need somewhere cheap preferably with a favorable exchange rate.
I would like to photograph ANYTHING outside of cities and buildings right now.

I'm thinking about Thailand, but I want to hear some other opinions! The coastal region looks beautiful.

Dude, always pack heat when you go to another country. Especially if you're carrying an SLR and you're alone. Haven't you seen Full Metal Jacket? Guy gets one of his cameras jacked right when he gets into Vietnam.
