Which digital body for my Canon EF USM lenses?

Hi all! I'm making the switch to digital and need some help. I've got 3 Canon EF USM lenses that I've been using on my Elan 7 35mm. I'd like to stay with a Canon body for my DSLR and was wondering what bodies are my lenses compatible with? I've been told that I have to start with the 40D and go up...the store also said that the Rebel XT and XTI would only take the EF-S lenses, not my regular EF USM lenses. HELP! Who knows where my starting point is?

All Canon crop frame bodies will take both EF and EF-S lenses. Canon full frame bodies can only accept EF lenses. Your lenses will work on any Canon digital body.

Specifically, what lenses do you have?
