A poisonous herb that grows in Eastern/Southern North America, it received it's name because Native Americans used the root to treat snakebite. It managed to kill thousands of unsuspecting settlers

, when milk cows ingested it. They became sick, but people still drank the now poisonous milk. It was known as milk sickness and Abraham Lincoln's mother is believed to have died of it.
 
Wow, such an unassuming looking plant. Who'd have thought it so dangerous. Well exposed shot with nice bokeh and composition.
