Wide angle converters?

Has anyone used a wide angle converter before like this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4687&item=3843238657&rd=1
just wondering if they are worth the trouble. I know that you lose quality with every piece of glass you pass the image through but the price beats the snot out of getting a wide angle or fish eye lens.

NO, I have not used one. But IMHO it is not worth using, because if the converter is not designed for the lens that it will be used on, the light rays will be distorted or blocked for reaching the film. The out come will be a very funky image.
