I might snag an af-d version. Manual focus is how I'd use it anyway. Not sure if it's good as the current release. I've seen them for around $200

From what I have read, the previous version of this one which is autofocus but does not have vibration control is better. I am fairly sure it is better on a chart but in real life probably not noticeable, I think that one goes cheap from time to time also. I am sure the one you mention is good also, I don't think there are any (or at least not many)bad macro lenses
