Wren and Cardinal

It's been overcast, so the images are on the dark side, but I think they turned out ok. A mated pair of Carolina Wrens have finally decided to move into the Wren House. A beautiful Northern Cardinal male also paid a visit and sang a seranade for me.

Great stuff! We have front and backyard cardinal pairs. They're year-round residents up here. Local bluejay tribe has trained me to toss peanuts in the shell out on the deck at 6am daily. A pair of chipping sparrows nested just outside the kitchen window. Cute tiny things that resemble the decorative birds on our Xmas tree. Male persists in throwing himself defensively at the window. He's certain we're intent on murdering his wife and kids!
