Pretty mysterious image with that color sky and vignetting. Not sure if it's believable. I like it but not totally sure about it.

Hmmm....interesting shot. I was in Yosemite during the month of August. I went to the tunnel (exact same location) to shoot the sunrise (not the sunset). My guess is that this shot is a post-production creation b/c I believe the E-W orientation is off. In fact, I just confirmed it, looked at a map of Yosemite....that orientation is facing directly EAST.

Nice try, but I didn't do anything to edit the "E-W" orientation, whatever that is. The only thing that isn't 'real' is the sky, the tunnel view is in the correct orientation.

Given the light falling on photographers side of the mountain I don't see why there is any debate. Tunnel is a sunset location for that reason.

Either way, the top left vignette throws me off in comparison the top right

I'm not sure what your "nice try" refers to. Let me be a little more explicit. I've shot from the parking lot just outside the tunnel that is the entrance to the Yosemite Valley...in other words, pretty much the same location as that shot. My camera on a tripod was pointed EAST and shot the same landmarks. I was shooting a sunrise from that location. A sunset would be in the opposite direction (i.e.: the tunnel behind the shooter in that location). I know the landmarks are real. You've said that the sky isn't "real" which is my point--if you were facing in that direction during a sunset, you would be facing EAST (away from the sunset). To shoot the sunset you'd either need to be on the opposite side of the Yosemite tunnel (and facing with your back to Yosemite). Or you'd need to be on the other side of the valley (with your camera pointed towards the tunnel).

What I said in my original post was that in that position, capturing those landmarks, you aren't shooting a sunset b/c the orientation is EAST. And you indicated the sky isn't real in that photo. You've basically used post-production to create a sunset looking East from the valley entrance.

Of course not forgetting the fall of the shadows that puts the sun high and slightly to the right front of the camera, and quite obviously shot in the middle of the day. When trying to fool people you have to remember that they've seen lots of sunsets and lots of views in the middle of the day, and though not everybody can immediately put their finger on what is wrong they instinctively know when something is. I'm not saying don't try and fool people, just if you are you have to be far more convincing. Look closely at a sunset and look closely at the image you've presented, give it more than a casual glance and notice the detail because others will.

I live about 75 miles from the park, so I go there a bunch. Not really believable IMO meaning it looks too over-processed to me.

What they said....it's way too "artificial" to my eye, orientation notwithstanding. Everything about this shot to the trained eye sees it as a fabrication and anyone who's been to Yosemite shooting in that direction knew immediately.
