Managed to get this little chap with my kit lens (the camera did a reasonable job of focusing I thought too) Just as he was picking a flower to land on.
Almost a silhouette, very little detail. Flash would have stopped those wings, and filled in the dark areas. You nailed focus pretty good.. can see those hairs pretty sharply! Shooting flying insects is fun, isn't it? You should try dragonflies... they can be a real challenge!
