70-300vr 1or 2

Hi, I bought the 70-300 vr lens about 3 years ago for £330 but I still keep seeing the same lens being sold now for up to £550. As I understood Nikon did not make this lens in vr1 but brought it out with vr2. Does anybody know if there is a vr1 of this lens and if not why is it selling for £200 more than it was 3 years ago? Thanks

I've had mine for about 3 years as well, and the price here in the USA is about the same as it was at that time. Perhaps slightly higher but not much. Current new price here in the USA is £367 (if I did the conversion right, USD 586 if I didn't). I think I paid about £345 / USD 550 for mine new, and the instructions do state it is a VRII lens.
