this was my 1st time shooting any kind of sporting event...man i had fun!!...here are the pic...he is number 72

i had to use 800-1600 ISO...it was really cloudy..wasnt to much sun at all...i used my 75-300

I would say not to zoom in so far, or not to crop as much as you did. It would be nice to see what he is seeing. Connects you better with the subject, and therefore the photo looks more appealing. Use the shallowest aperture your lens will allow. If you could get a 2.8 lens, that would be ideal for these shots.

Ahhh does make since about the crop..letting others see what he is seeing...my lens is only 4.5 :(
 
i missed a few focus point also...correct me if im wrong...but on the canon body is "AI servo" for fast moving objects?..action,wildlife..ect
 
Its supposed to be i believe. (I shoot Nikon) Sometimes with many moving objects, though, it gets off a little.
