I think it's a good shot for the tender emotion. For that reason it's hard to get to the technicalities. The emotion is too distracting to point out, say, the lighting on the baby isn't very good, there's a noticeable triangular shadow on his/her face (lol I almost typed "its").

It really speaks, but I have a hard time forming the words of exactly what it's saying. As for the technical aspect of the picture, I can't comment, I'm too much of a beginner. But I like it.

There is def. emotion.
I really find the combination of the large triangle shadow by the eye and the distorted focus on the face is distracting.
Anyhow. i really have no experience in photographing newborns.
