Any news on a battery grip for the D5100?

I would get a third party one but the idea of a cord on the side really dissuades me to do so D;

It prob won't be released. There wasn't one for the d40, d3000,3100,5000 etc. Your only option would be a third party grip.

I had a Zeikos vertical grip on a D300 that worked OK. The Nikon grip I had on my other D300 felt a tad better.

The Neewer (actually Meike) brand is the most popular out there and goes for $23 in Amazon. There are other brands out there but they seem to be rebranded Meike grips. Do note that all grips have an inconvenient cable to be attached to the camera.
