The photoforum staff would like to inform all users that we will be doing our Server migration Tomorrow, July 16 at 10AM Eastern US time. The website will be down for no less than a half hour and up to two hours. We don't intend on it being down for too long but just in case. Also, when we do a switch for servers, we have to change the DNS (domain name server) which could be transparent to some users and could take a while for others. These are what tell your browser where www.thephotoforum.com is on the internet so you can find it. Sometimes, the information flows a little slower to some browsers so it may take up to 36 hours before you'll notice an improvement in service, but we hope not.

This new swap should take care of the speed issues we've been having with the forum as well as some other unseen problems. Plus we need it to accomodate for our growth we've been having since the beginning.

Thanks for your understanding and remember that you can always visit www.thesupportforum.com or www.yourtravelforum.com while you wait for tpf to come back online.

Thanks For the notice,
Should be good when it is up on the new server, and worth waiting for.
I've actually not noticed any speed problems on this forum, is it just due to high traffic?

any chance you can post the new ip so we can connect directly until the DNS servers catch up?

Good luck on the changeover! I hope everything goes well.

I think we're just getting bogged down because we didn't expect for the forum to outgrow it's server so quickly. Most of the time, the server we have is just fine but there are times when it overloads and comes to the brink of shutting down.

The DNS servers are connecting fine on our test server page but they're just a little slower at finding the pages. If you do have any problems connecting, feel free to send me a message at: [email protected] or find me on yahoo messenger.

Once this forum is taken offline and the new server is in production, I'll try to include the IP address of that server on the outage notice you'll see on this server. Hope that helps!
