    Hi,

Does anyone have any tips for taking good looking automotive shots?

I've learnt that having the camera very low to the ground gives a good effect, but was wondering if there are any other tips to help me improve!

    Thanks!

just for clarification you are meaning taking the shot while the cars are parked or are moving
If parked; The best angles I've seen are the ones where the picture is taken from the (bottom or same height/ leveled in the middle) side of any bumper
here is a link to teaching how to take car photography if that helps

and one for reference to see how others take theirs (well actually only one person took these, i think)

Thanks - I meant taking photos while cars are parked. I'll check out those links!

  4. Provide a link to an image you like, maybe we can help emulate the look.

Thanks - I've had a little search and came across some images from IonSpeedMaster (which I hope he doesn't mind me posting again here) which I really like - the angles, lighting, and composition is what does it for me I guess.

I'll have to have a better play when I can find a suitable background and just experiment!

I think one of my main problems is the light reflects from my car causing it to over-expose in places, so maybe I should try what I've read regarding shooting early in the morning or late at night.

I've also noticed from looking at pictures I like that it's a pretty good idea to turn the wheels slightly! Just hoping to pick up some other tips like that really!

It's a shame it's so overcast today as I was going to take a few shots and put them up for C&C, but I'm afraid that'll have to wait now...

    Thanks again!

You need to link to that photo if you didn't take it.

Ya those shots are really nice, I need to play with some angles like that too. Another thing you might want to look into is getting the book, How To Photograph Cars, it gives alot of examples and lots of good suggestions on what to do. I have it too, it's a pretty good book to pickup and look at

Excellent - I almost forgot to see if a book existed on the subject! I'll check it out! :)
