I've seen some really cool macro pictures while surfing this site and the web. Someone on here had a really cool one of a spider web with dew drops on it. Anyway, what type of lens do you have to have to take macro shots? I found this on wikipedia:

"150–200mm range gives more working distance — typically used for insects and small animals "

So does this mean that a telephoto lens will take good macro shots? Seems to easy. Photography is the most technical art I've ever come across.

You also gotta keep in mind the magnification. 1:1 is good for macro, although there's ones that make it bigger.

Depends on how much you want to spend, partly. Macro lenses are more than that P&S cost, but I guess you could use some extension tubes on a lens you already own. Those are reasonable.

For a P&S camera, thats a pretty good image. I'm kinda obsessed with macro work, gets easier once you master the basics.
