Broken Filter

So I was going to put my hoya polarizing filter on yesterday when it slipped from my hand and hit the table from about 8'' and the ring that holds the glass in place broke. Is that replaceable or should i just by a new one & would it be cheaper just buying a new one???

By break you mean the ring is snapped open on one side? If so that's supposed to be like that. It tenses outwards and is what holds the glass in.

Put the glass in, squeeze the ring together and push it into the corners of the filter. Use a pocket knife or something to make sure it's firm against the filter and you're set.

... unless it's a different ring. A photo would help.

I was hoping that it was gonna be just that until i picked up the ring and it was busted in the middle. Its a bummer cause I could have used it for some great shots of Alnwick Castle
