Wonderful photo...how exciting it must have been to see a big bull moose like that in the wild. How close were you?

Ya, I took this shot during the middle of the rut, and bull moose are notoriously grumpy during this time! I would say, I was about 40 yards away. Earlier, I had crossed a field to within about 100 yards from him and could hear him snorting at me. I took a couple of shots from that distance and then backed off back close to my car. Then the bull moose decided to check me out and slowly worked his way over to me. That when I got this shot. He's a big boy, and I'm guessing he stood about 6' at the shoulder.
