Thanks,

Mike

Well, I'm not a pro, but here is what i think :)
1- Interesting lighting, but the house / trees at the bottom of the image seems out of focus and the red line seems more like a scratch of red in the image and that it doesn't belong

2- This one seems somewhat over processed / sharpened, but that could just be my monitor. In terms of composition, its nice, although the bottom petal of the main flower was cut off

What kind of camera did you use?

Do you have the shot information?

And yes. I gave Pic 1 a soft focus.

Thanks for replying!

Somehow the second one looks very noisy, which surprises me, as you set your camera to ISO 400, which should still work fine and almost free from any visible noise with the XT! Maybe its the effect of over-sharpening in post that has been mentioned by bigtwinky? May well have been. What was the original like?

I agree with bigtwinky on the trail of the plane in the sky: it somehow looks more like an accidental scratch, but I also see that you have worked without a tripod for the first. You say you applied "soft focus"? Somehow the softness looks like camera shake to me, though, I don't know: can't necessarily be at 1/200 sec. exposure and the lens set to 25mm  ... but the exposure time was too short for the plane to leave a long enough streak in the sky... Maybe next time you use a tripod, choose a smaller aperture than f6.3, longer exposure... yes. Well, that...

Here is the original:

Well, ok, the flowers are slightly underexposed here, the bright background played tricks on you and the exposure settings, but I'd not go as far in brightening it as you did, as you get all that nose, and I feel that the amount of sharpening that you applied is really necessary. Some middle path (adjusting the highlights to the FLOWERS only, too, leaving the window as it is) might get you there. Unless you really like your version the best. Than all's good!
