I'm of course not sure, but I think you're right Señor. This is also what causes the P&S to use a "35mm Equivalent" designation.

I have a DMC-FZ7 for at least a few more months...

When you get a DSLR, your issues will be addressed simply with the new system. This is one of the times we can blame the camera! But considering the limitations of your equipment, I think you did a great job.

A tighter crop might address the "omg the background is was too soft!" comments (a bit off the top; lengthwise is looks fine to me).
