Well... my brother intends to buy a digital to use at work. He will be making photos for eBay listing (mostly large stuff... trucks, industrial equipment) AND some table-top work for advertising.

He's not a photographer, but has a pretty good understanding of what he needs to do. So, he's come to me for help and I'm not an equipment junkie kind of guy.

He's narrowed it down to these three choices:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7530500199&category=30019&rd=1
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7532402624&category=107902&rd=1

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    -Pete

Try a side-by side comparison at www.dpreview.com that makes it easy to compare them.

I like that the Canon has IS...a nice feature.

Costco has a decent price on the Canon S2 with IS for $449.00. The S1 version (with IS) for around 249.00. Both should work well for his intended purpose.

I wouldn't go an olympus digital. They need a lot of stuffing around to work them out. Really odd menus.

Go Canon - they are easy to understand.

Thanks for the "heads up" on this model... it's the one he settled on.

I used the S1 IS for a long time, and it is a very good camera, though the autofocus is a bit off at times. I learned quite a bit on that camera, and as long as he doesn't expect it to be as good as a Prosumer or DSLR, he should be happy with the decision :)
