I own Canon 50D and going to buy new Canon zoom 70-200 2.8 IS II IR for $1,900 but just come across Leica Single Lens SLR Digital Camera V-LUX Typ 114 f2.8-4.0/9.1-146mm ASPH about $1,000 and this is 25-400mm. Mostly will take my son sport pictures such as swimming, teakwood, and etc. Any suggestion between those two. Which would you pick if you were me.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

That particular Leica model is not really an in-house designed Leica. It's made in partnership with Panasonic and is based on the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000.

The camera is a very nice bridge camera with a 1" sensor (which isn't really 1"... it's 13.2mm x 8.8mm which works out to just under a 16mm diagonal size... significantly smaller than an APS-C sensor.) As a bridge camera, you cannot swap lenses.

Also... since the camera basically is a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 with a Leica logo on the front, you might want to check the price of the Panasonic... which is about $800. This means you're paying a couple hundred dollars for a Leica logo on a Panasonic camera.

I still prefer the idea of large sensor DSLR cameras with interchangeable lenses and the ability to upgrade the body and still retain the lens collection.

Thank you very much Tim. Will do the zoom then.

Hi Tim,
I was looking on eBay for a brand new Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II USM at 6Ave express is $1,862. At Canon USA web site is $2100-$100 rebate = $2,000. Does $138 saving at 6 ave express on eBay worth it to you? I am concerning about warranty and to got 100% brand new.

If it's an authorized dealer the warranty should be good but you can get much better deals on DSLR buy/sell sites here on at Photography-on-the.net Digital Photography Forums FM Forums etc.
Of course you have to do the "due diligence"

Thank you.
