Canon Powershot A520?

I'm thinking of grabbing this camera, Canon Powershot A520. A review is found at http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona520/

Being a total beginner, I've really got no idea what all that review is saying. Basically I want a "training camera" that lets me manually configure everything (ie. shutter speed, apeture, etc) so I can learn how settings work. Most of the shots will be outdoors scenery, either landscape or cityscape.

Is this a good camera for a beginner? Its on sale for about $300 (Australian dollars, so about $250 US dollars).

Yes, that camera will allow you to have more control that just automatic.

It has shutter speed priority, aperture priority, full manual exposure and many automatic modes.
