Critiquing Photos

I could see where it would be useful in some cases, but not making it a requirement. A lot will depend on what they are looking for. It would help if they want a "what can I do with this?", but it's less useful for "did I succeed with this?" In the latter case, the critique is the same regardless of the starting point. The original only determines if they can go back to it or if they have to reshoot if they feel they haven't succeeded.

I personally think that the "What can I do with this?" approach is helpful when learning to adjust images, but when it comes to creating successful works, it's best to start with something of quality.

I understand where you are coming from. I think the most workable approach would be to just ask for the poster to put up the original if you think it would be useful to your critique.
