Custom White Balance

    Can others edit my Photos:
    Photos NOT OK to edit
    i tried to set a custom white balance with my D40, but it keeps telling me it cant get the shot or something.

    what am i doing wrong?

    over or underexposing the shot probably. try a different setting and shoot it again.

    to add...
    first step in custume WB is exposure. reason is - as light falls of by inverse square law (1/x^2) a gorgeous white wall for example will be gray once you move further from it. therefore you have to expose correctly.
    Ideally, its better, rather more accurate, to use an 18% gray card. Personally, it is the best $5 I ever contributed to photography.

    i want to get one but i dont know where to get one other than online haha. i hate buying things online and much prefer to buy in person.
