Any news on a D700 successor? What should we expect and when it should be out?

I heard a rumor a while back about a D700s this fall. Who knows though.

    Potentially around July.

There are whole websites dedicated to these types of things, you know.

    D700s and D700x from NR.

I just bought a D700 so I hope not. However I guess that it will be some time this year, several reasons all of which can be found over at Nikonrumours.com

Nikon UK are running a deal with D700 next 2 months to get rid of excess stock. This could be considered a sign for a in-coming update. It has also be discontinued in a few places round the world. I.E Middle East.

Why hope not? This is self defeating. If you really hoped not you would have never bought anything technology related for fear that it'll be obsolete within the year. Not to mention all those photos you wouldn't have taken ;)

View things the opposite way and hope that your brand new camera is superseded within the year. This is a sign of technical progress.
