Ok so I read that diagonal lines are good to draw the eye through the photo.

1. Is this a good example of diagonal lines?

2. framing withing the shot. will this work or am I framing empty space?

Thanks for the help.

1. Here the diagonal line cuts the image in half, and tends to lead my eyes up and out of the photo. Maybe try cropping the photo to a pano where the rocks are just the top right corner, and the ducks fill more of the frame.

2. You are framing empty space. The bird becomes part of the frame because it's so small compared to the chunk of blue sky. Crop it to the right half and the brushy branches break up the sky, and the bird becomes larger in relation to everything.
