I currently have one lens for my camera with a plain UV filter on it to protect the glass. I also have a circular polarizing filter that I swap in when taking shots outdoors. I'm about to get a new lens with a larger ring size, and I was wondering if getting a plain UV filter is even necessary. Could I get away with just getting a circular polarizer and rotating it to its minimum effect when shooting indoors?

    UV's are a personal choice...

I think they are pretty much useless in most situtations.

If ur tight for money.... dump the extra UV...

If you like the comfort of UV's then buy it..

I have the UV to protect the lens, not to eliminate any UV rays.

A polarizer will still steal some light, so it's not advisable to use it in situations where you don't get any benefits.
