First shots with Canon 40D

Just got it in the mail yesterday. Canon 40D with 28-135 IS lens. Took it for a test shoot today at my kids sports event at school and this is what I came up with, a few of my favorite shots. Here you can let me know if it was a good idea to get the 40D or if I should stare at it with a mad look and bang my head with it :lmao::lmao:

I did nothing to the pics in photoshop other than the frames.

the last one is decent. I'd say you shouldn't give the camera a mean stare, but maybe the camera should be giving you a mean stare...the camera's not the one taking the pictures

honestly, the rest of them are simple snapshots in my opinion.

The last one is great! The rest are .. less great

The main subject in the first photo is cut off near the ankles. A vertical frame might have worked better

What's with the glowing thing in the third picture? Is that someone's head?

The shadows ruin #4.

I don't know much but the last one looks great! Water looks sweet and the experession on the kid is really good.

oh by no means was I taking these shots to come and show them as part of my work. It's more to get feedback on the performance of the camera/lens I just bought that's all they were ALL snapshots just trying to get them focused more than anything.
