Hi every one I have Nikon D5100 with
1. AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G II ED and
2. AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G ED VR lens. Recently i knew about UV and CPL filters and I thought to have these two but when I google these I saw they are available in different mm. what is the purpose of these filters in various mm...like 52mm, 72mm etc??So I don't know which are best for me. Thanks in advance.

those numbers are for the diameter of the filter, so the filter can screw on the lens. Different lenses have different diameters.

If you look at the front of your 18-55 lens you will notice numbers such as 52 - this is the filter thread diameter, which is the size of filters that you want to buy for it.
(edit) OOPS, I don't think that lens has markings for the diameter on it. So you would have to search a place that lists the diameter for it, such as the manual, or someplace online such as:
http://kenrockwell.com/nikon/1855.htm
which lists it as
Filter Thread: 52 mm.

Lenses may differ in the diameter. Once you get to professional level lenses the diameters are larger, such as 72mm.

You purchase the filter size (diameter) to match your lens filter thread diameter.

Example: here's a filter manufacturer list of filter sizes for Nikon lenses

You need a 52mm. Filter sizes are listed in the instruction manuals.

Also on the underside of your lens cap.

p.s. don't waste your money on UV filters get a ND instead. CPL are good to have.
