Help W/ Slideshow!!

Im currently taking a photo class and my instructor wants us to put together a slideshow. The projects called a day in the life. Im doing mine on a buddie of mine thats a teacher and ive shot over a thousand images and their in llies my dilema i need to know how to be able to shuffle thru them quicker in my slideshow. I have access to Iphoto and lightroom 2 and the beta 3 version. I already dropped the images down to a second of viewing and its still to long please help and thanks in advanced
