I went outside on my deck this morning to check the temps and saw this:

Now once I got over the fact that it is a big nasty spider I knew I couldn't resist the photo opportunity! I am about to go back out and see I can get closet using my other lens without me having to be so close to him/her..

Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?

Looks like a garden spider to me, but I'm not completely sure as its all balled up and I can't see the top.

personally i love spider pics. This is pretty good would have like to see more detail in the spider. Maybe if it was sharper you could see more detail.

It's a pity this photo has missed the focus and therefore isn't sharp.

I think it was because the wind was blowing the web! It was attached to 2 sides of my deck basically across one corner of my deck. I am going back out to see if I can get a better one!

    I'd say it's a garden spider.

I HATE spiders too, and don't mean to hijack this post, but here is one I took of a spider that has built her web near my front porch.

Good pic but would have been better if it would have taken from the front!
