Hey all,
Is it possible to find out contact details from an email header?

I've been contacted by a company that I really want to do business with, but they can't really tell me much coz the company hasn't launched yet. I know it sounds dodgy written like that, but I'm pretty sure it's all legit.

Anyway, I thought it'd be good to find more out about the company so I can tailor my quote for them, and basically woo them.

Anyway, if it's possible please pm me and I'll send you the email header.

You'll only be able to get their e-mail address. However, if it links to their site (ie, [email protected]) then you should be able to do a whois on the domain to find their address. Unless they've opted out of it.

Doesn't the IP address of where it was sent from show up in there too? Can you get anything from that?

All the whois lookup showed was that it was from a specific internet company. It was just a generic ISP email address.

Anyway, I'll let you know if it turns out to be real or a weird, elaborate waste of time. hehehe.
