This is a tribute to some of the managerial staff here at TPF...

I registered on another forum the other day. I had a few questions to ask on it, so I started in as soon as I registered, asking two different questions. I responded to each question twice (responding to responses), and one of them was a funny statement. And then, the next day I went to log on and it said I had been banned for trolling! I have no idea how, as I wasn't even there long enough to say anything wrong. But I couldn't ask them, cause i couldn't access my account anymore. Anyway, I'm looking through the old posts, and LITERALLY about half of the people on this forum had been banned. Some of them had 5 posts, others had 5,000. It was crazy.

It just made me realize that although I disagree with not being able to say whatever I want, the mods here are fairly hands-off in comparison to my other forum experience. I still don't understand the concept of trolling very well, but I think I could be accused of being one to some people by causing some heated arguments (I thought I was encouraging discussion). And yet, the mods here were cool, never said I was out of line, and just locked stuff as needed without banning anyone.

So thank you people for being fairly lenient. I know you could be more liberal, but in comparison to other forums, you are very open-minded. Thank you. Also I've learned not to ask controversial questions (for any reason), and to not question everything that happens, as it makes it seem as if I distrust the person's reasoning.

BTW, just in case someone thinks I'm being a butt-kisser, I have nothing to personally gain from saying this. As a matter of fact, I'm usually very skeptical of anyone who has any sort of authority (its my passive-aggressive nature), so this is very rare for me to openly compliment anyone in a managerial position.

i've got to agree though, a lot of other forums are VERY strict about what people say and won't hesitate to ban anyone, but this forum has to be the best I've ever been on. I was on a local paintball forum when i use to play, and an admin banned his own team mate from it. So i must say Thanks as well to the mods and admins here to!!

There can be forums that are over-policed, or those where there are appointed mods but those are never there. My husband only ever visits flight sim forums, but he's too pissed off with how people are not only allowed to be at each other's throats all the time, but how they actively are at each others's throats, too, so he doesn't even consider to register. Doesn't want to be sucked into such vortex of verbal abuse and asshole-ness as he encounters there...!

...you wan't to see over-policed....look at Photobukets forum that place is run by a bunch of ass hats, I had a thread deleted because I said porn and nude women. In fact that very same thread is still kicken around over here and gets resurected every now and again.

I'm def. the "cross the line" type of guy with some of my comments...not just here...Everyday..I dont think about the stuff I say. And many people aren't acustomed to the rotten sense of humor that has developed in many of todays youth.

Although I can be civil and maintain an interesting conversation on politics, I tend to be a sarcastic ass....see my sig.

But yeah, so far the mods are pretty leniant and understanding. Thats what makes this forum fun and instructive at the same time.

Great job guys....and dont ban me!

On subject again...

I'm still pretty new here but I've been members of countless forums on various themes over the years and even ran a couple. I've not witnessed any serious controversy arise yet on here but the general tone, attitude and friendlyness of the forum population speaks volumes. Most importantly existing members are happy and willing to not just to welcome new members but actually engage with them, help them, encourage them and and listen to their opinions which is depressingly rare, so many forums are terminally cliquey. In my experience if you run a forum a certain way you get a certain kind of person so the admins here get my vote. :thumbup:

At some point I'm gonna want all these hours of my life back though. :greenpbl:
