Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of buying a Sony Alpha digital SLR, and I'm just curious as to the approximate size of maximum quality pics taken on a 10mp camera, just so I get some idea of what size Memory Stick I'd be looking at purchasing, and how many images would fit on there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any general estimate of how many pics would fit on a one gig stick?

I have a Nikon D70s which is 6.1 MegaPixels. The normal jpeg size is around 1.5Mb and I was getting approximately 680 picures on my 1Gb compact flash card. I have now upgraded to an 8Gb card and get 4600 normal pictures, or 9000 basic quality pictures. If I switch to RAW I get around 1500 photos.

I had a quick look on the sony website and found the manual for the Sony A100 digital SLR http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/2681187121.pdf, page 27 tells you the info you are looking for.

1Gb will hold 358 pictures at 10mp

I've just checked my A100. With a 1GB card you should get about 65 raw, or 240 JPEG fine images.

I get 280 RAW files on my D70s.

I have a 2GB in my 10mp Canon. For JPEG: on the best setting it will hold about 400, and the worst setting it will hold about 2600. For RAW it will hold about 200.
