i really enjoy graveyards.
before i had my youngest son recently, the older kids and i use
to browse really old graveyards quite often.
while the kids were at day camp and the baby was napping
with daddy today, i played hookey from work and went to the
local graveyard here, which isn't as old as i would have liked...
but still saw some interesting things.

i'm just going through these now, so i'll update as i find 'ok' shots to post.
thanks for looking.

please!! don't even get me started.
i swear, it doesn't matter if i was 20 feet away, the very moment
i even attempted to get a shot of a crow, it was gone! :grumpy:

i'll try again another day, and i will triumph! :er:

as i went through the pictures... i realized that the shot above was
really the only one worth posting. it was just so bright and sunny,
and my angles seemed to be off.

but i did want to post this shot.
nothing fabulous about it, i just found it... both obvious and barren at the same time.
btw ~ this is the marker. there is no name or date.

Now that, that seriously rocks. It's a wonderful photograph.

There's a church down the road from me and it's got some old headstones. Some have four or more people on there. Families who've added to it over the years. It's nice really. But then you have the newer ones which you can see have space for more. That's kinda creepy.

thank you!

and i know what you mean.
there were several HUGE marble tombs out of the ground.
i'm thinking i'll head back up there when the snow falls again.
i think the contrast of the dark marble against the white snow
would be awesome.

what do you make of this one?
has she already passed? is she waiting to?
what do those intials stand for?
and does she believe, i wonder, in life after death?

endings... beginnings

probably this: academy of certified baccalaureate social workers

i've seen this before on stones. some people are proud of their work, especially human service occupations and will indicate their profession on stones.

ahhhh...thank you.
i sat there for the longest time trying to figure it out.

That is odd, to me. I thought they put the stones in after the ground had settled anway, so I'd geuss that she's in there. But then, she could have bought the stone and the plot now so it's all ready and to her liking before she pops her cloggs. Strange how she was allowed to put it on public view though, if that's the case. I wouldn't have thought they'd let you.
