Does anyone know how to create a Cubic QTVR? Examples can be seen on QuickTime's website: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/gallery/cubicvr/

I thought this might be neat for some of my family vacations. Even though there appear to be a lot of so-called 'How-to' websites, none are very specific or tell you how to shoot the initial photos.

    Thanks!

These where shot by taking mutiple pictures (I would guess 8-15 shots should do) and stitching them together.

Basically if you made a 360 pano you would be able to use their software to create one.

After looking at other websites, I think that is part of the problem. I can't find anything that tells me how to create a 360 panoramic. I see there is software you can buy to do the stitching, but I'd first like to know if it's possible with Photoshop since I already own it.

Thanks. I guess I need to rephrase what I mean. I know how to do a 360 panoramic just not a spherical(?) one so that you can use the pic to view up & down as well as back & forth.

Hmmm... well I would make a 360 pano... shoot enough pictures to get the whole sky and ground covered. Does the tutorial show you how to put the thing together after you have shot the picture? I guess part of it would have to be determined on how to attach the top and bottom parts to the 360 pano.

You need a rig to hold the camera and rotate it ( http://gregwired.com/pano/Pano.htm or http://www.360precision.com/360/360.cfm), or you need a setup that has a large enough field of view to see the top and bottom of the scene.

Once you have the photographs, around a horizon and up and down, you can use a "Stitching" program such as http://www.ptgui.com/ to stitch the images together.

Now you need a way to show the image. There are many options out there including Quicktime vr, or Flash Based displays.

we used a program called IPIX in school. it was really nice and simple to use. only they went out of business and its next to impossible to get the software...

also, our teacher was at one time, one of the programmers for the software company and had a nikon p&s with a custom 180º+ fov. it was crazy.

    IPix lives > http://ipix.com

I quite using their stuff about 5 years ago. Was kind of fun, but they're too wierd and expensive to work with.
