Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Heyyy! if someone can explain the difference between my question, that would be great!!! here it is...

i have a Sony A100 camera and got a Sony 28mm wide lens for christmas. what is the difference between that lens and the lens that is already on my camera?? (which is a 18-70mm lens)

thank you!

If you got the Sony SAL-28 ... then the main differences are:

Wider maximum aperture
- the Sony SAL-28 has a maximum aperture of f/2.8
- the Sony SAL-1870 has a maximum aperture of f/3.5 @ 18mm

Higher quality
- fixed focal length lens tend to have better imaging quality (sharpness/contrast).

so which one is really better? sal 28 or sal 1870?

The Sony SAL-28 will produce a better image than the Sony SAL-1870.

Try it, use the 18-70mm zoom set at 28mm ... and then compare it with the 28mm.

Once you've shot a prime, you'll have a hard time going back to zooms. ;) Better image Quality, Faster lens. Apprieciate that Christmas present you got there.

Oh no! Someone is just about to get bit by the prime bug! Very nice gift!

Can I get an Amen?!

(in general) Primes are better performers. Cost less, weigh less, don't get the "OMG you pervert" look or that "you must be a pro" look and just a gem to play with.

Yup, I only had prime lenses once ...

28mm f/2.8
50mm f/1.4
90mm f/2.8 Macro
135mm f/2.8
200mm f/2.8
400mm f/4.5

... sadly I am starting over again (DSLR).

50mm f/2.8 macro
300mm f/4.0
