Logo, Branding & Marketing Advice from the past?

I'd be curious to see what the business cards of Richard Avedon, John French, Lord Snowdon, Cecil Beaton etc looked like and whether they just used they name or whether they used it in association with "Photographer", "Photography", "Fashion Photographer" etc... I realise that marketing must have been much simpler in the days yet it is always interesting to look at the past.

Hasn't anyone got an idea where one could get an idea of the kind of marketing they did? Or perhaps some of you were already born and grown back then and remember?

They all used social media quite heavily.

But honestly I think they used social networking (the old fashioned kind).
