mediocre ocean shot

I stopped the car in the middle of the road and took this just like one of the tourists...

first one is kind of cakey looking. it was darker than that, you guys think I should lower the exposure level on that in post or too late now? so far I think I just gave it a little contrast boost. toss the shot out? Not really a fan of the cakey thing 1/20 shutter 1400 iso could explain it. No idea why I had the iso so high gave it a false lit effect and cakey.. I really should stop compensating with iso adjustments and leave what is dark, staying dark instead of coming out with cake occasionally with the iso notch up temptation....I think my kid came out with a couple better shots out there with her ipad than I did with my Nikon.. None of hers came out cakey...
