Hi, im very new to photography.... I run a store where we buy and sell a lot of jewelry... lately ive beeen melting most of the gold but now that ive discovered the market on eBay i went out and purchased some photo equipment

I currently have a Nikon D50, and a Canon Rebel xsi.

i have an MK digital direct light box and an extra LED "MiniLite"

i was wondering if i need anymore lights, which camera is better, and what lens do i need... any help is appreciated thanks guys.. looking forward to jump into this new forum as well :)

There's a guy on here called 'bitter jeweller' who is a jeweller and a good photographer, and also quite bitter. He might give you a lot of good advice if he sees this thread, otherwise you may want to PM him.

Otherwise in terms of lenses, if I had to recommend one for the Xsi it would be the canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro, all the way. As good as it gets for product shots IMO.

i dont see the box on the website but the model number is 795, it has back side and platform lightings with a closable door and a whole in the top for camera/lighting
