    Hey guys new to photography.

    just wanted to introduce myself and will be posting more often.

    no camera yet still deciding on my first dslr im stuck between the nikon d40 and the d60.

    still looking for a good deal on either camera and more reviews.

    I would say welcome to The Photo Forum, but as you can see, this is my first post as well. As far as you camera ideas, please consider the Canon Rebel EOS XS or XSi or T1i. I understand the prices go up for the latter, but the Canon XS (base camera) competes with the Nikon D60 in terms of performance. After a little haggling with Dell, and yes they do beat prices, I recieved my Rebel XS with free 2-day shipping for $496.00. That is the total paid.

    Just food for thought. Again, please compare side-by-side and let me be the first to welcome you to the board.

    I've had both the D40 and the D60, for my use I prefer the D60 for the Active D-Lighting option alone, not to mention the other small goodies it packs. The main advantage of the D40 is faster flash sync.
