Hi all,

I've finally made the jump from point and shoot digital cameras to a SLR! Today I purchased a Nikon D80 w/ AF-S Nikkor 18-135mm lens. Included in the package was a Quantaray AF LD 55-200 mm lens. I also purchased a 2 gig extreme memory card; the whole package was a little over $800.00---I hope I did alright??

I've taken several pictures of the family tonight and am very impressed with the picture quality. The depth and color are amazing.

Being new to anything other than point and shoot, is there any "must have's" I should put on my Christmas list? Also, I enjoy taking macro photos can anyone suggest a reasonably priced macro lens?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Circular Polarizing filter would be handy if you take landscapes.

Tripod (a good sturdy one)
Monopod, if you don't want to carry a tripod.

More memory cards (eventually you will start shooting RAW).

Photoshop CS4 (maybe, maybe not)

Hmm, "reasonably priced" ... what can you afford ?

"Must haves" really depend on what sort of photography you plan to concentrate on. A good flash, tripod, or polarizing filter are items that should be in any serious photographer's basic kit. You might want to look at things like a cleaning kit, remote release or a gadget bag.
