Night time shots how do I do it?

What exactly are you trying to acopmplish?

If you have Photoshop you can go into Image, Adjustments, selective color. I did that on ths image of yours just for fun. It's not perfect, but it shows you a possibility

It's possible too that you may need to white balance your camera to the lighting in the scene, though I've found the e 500 can tend to be a bit flakey in the WB area in low light.

I was trying to get a crisp night shot of a action scene.

That will require a lot of flash. If you use a fast film the pic will be grainy but it will freeze motion better.
