Nikon Scan 3.0 & Adobe Photoshop.cs2

I have purchased a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED and Photoshop. Photoshop loads the Nikon software and then I scan and it goes into photoshop. NikonScan's default Raw is .nef.

My question is how much image correction should I do in the Nikon software before it goes to photoshop? I want the original image to be preserved as best as possible and make adjustments to it using adjustment layers in photoshop so I am not changing the original.

Do all your adjustments in Photoshop, thereby keeping your original image as is. Photoshop is the ultimate program for any image manipulation.

I think you should try and get as close as possible in the scanner first, as tedious as it may be. When you are adjusting for the scan, it's like your raw file. Once you've scanned, it's like shooting jpg.

I go for the flatest image with the most detail in the scan. This range gives you a lot to work with. Then edit in photoshop.
