Nikon user needing a little Canon lens help

I have an internet challenged friend so I shall ask on his behalf.

He has just bought a new Rebel XT (not the XTi), and is looking for a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I said that I knew that there were versions of this lens from Nikkor for under $125 and that I read that there were versions of a similar lens for around $70... but I have no idea where to look for the Canon version BNIB.

Could someone help point me in the right direction with a couple links? I tried Amazon, and came up with a blank.

That's where I buy my gear, they're fast, reliable, and easy. Just search for EF 50mm and something should pop up.
