Noob Question: Photoshop does RAW (?)

Simple enough, does photoshop accept raw files or is there a whole process, extra programs, etc that are required?


Also, how much better is RAW. I know it is more customizable, but do a lot of pros shoot JPEG? I know Harry How does...

Actually, integrated with Photoshop and LR is a program called Adobe Camera Raw (it comes with the program). This is the program which reads the RAW file for photoshop (and has some powerful image editing tools of its own). So yes, in a manner of speaking, Photoshop accepts RAW.

Yes. Adobe Camera Raw is a plug-in that is already installed in Photoshop.

Most of the pros who hire me for retouching shoot raw. My impression is that the vast majority shoot raw.
