Ok I am pretty new to DSLR I have a Canon Rebel 2000 film SLR but I want a DSLR now and am not attached to any brand. I have about $1500 to spend on lens and body. I have cases and a flash already. I have been looking at the Canon 40D and the Nikon D80. I am mostly wanting to shoot landscapes, nature and architecture. I have all my software covered I just need a new camera so I don't have to scan all my images plus the flexibility of digital is nice. Any recommendations are appreciated. I am also really interested in HDR.

Why not the Canon automatically? You have a flash already, so may as well go for it.

Plus, right now...the Canon 40D is really a sick camera. my brother has one, and it's a joy when he lets me use it.

I may be a Nikonian myself, but based on your familiarity and experience with Canon, I see no reason to not go for the 40D. I've heard really great things about the camera. I'd totally go for the 40D if I was you.
