Great idea, nice composition. Only small problem I dislike is the uneveness in the lighting. Maybe a second soft light from the right just to brighten the shadows a little.

ya I was thinking that too in a way. I did some photoshop work on the shadow but i like the funky lighting because to me it goes with the oldskool kind of idea and how its just more free form, Thanks for the critique and comments

What's good:

- shoes are worn and not new.
- shoes are Vans (i own several pair)

What needs work (imho):

- the shoelace over the wheel. it doesn't look natural but looks intentional.

- lighting is too uneven

- something about the composition isn't quite pleasing to my eyes. not sure what it is.

There should be at least a little detail, even in the blackest areas.

Here is another one I took from a different angle. Is this better or same c&c? I like the uneven lighting because it makes it more unatural I didnt want to do a product shoot.

The shoelace on the wheel does look a little too intentional but I don't mind the uneven light so much, it's the shadows on the top that bug me.

FYI I did put the shoelace there on purpose and I guess I shouldnt have. Are you talking about the shadows in the corners of the shot?

Actually I was thinking of the shadow on the right where you can see the shape of the shoe (the first one).
