Outdoor shot, Black Lamborghini Gallardo, tips?

Make sure the owner cleans it well enough that you could lick icing off of it. Black paint shows every spec of dust.

Quite true, Ive done some lighting for car shows/casino give away, and they always want to display a black car, as soon as I get the light set, they are always shocked and amazed at how dirty the car looks. you really need to clean it minutes before a photo shoot, and in a live display, they end up cleaning it daily.

I'm just a noob but ..
Aside of what was already mentioned. I love black cars and they photo well.
I would bring a little more wheel into the photo. It's a signature for lambo. Like said before I think a wet street would make it. I would like to see grafiti with it. Maybe a night picture at a club with some nice looking women and a little blur going on around it.
Anyways nice car.

Yup keep a duster handy aside of washing.

I wouldn't be negative about reflections and so on. It depends on how you want to use them to your advantage. Reflections can help define the volume of the object. Think about a cube. If a cube has equal color or value on all three visible sides, then there is a lack of orientation. If the cube has one top surface showing reflection, one face showing its real color and one in the shade, you have a much better sense of space and volume.

Reflections can also help reflect the object's surroundings. A black exotic with a graffiti on brick wall background, reflecting the colorful brick textures off its hood and roof, or even the fenders.... sounds yummy to me. Again, it's all on how you use it to your advantage. Polarizers will help reduce the reflections, but sometimes, that may not work towards showing the most interesting details of the photo. Remember, it's not always about the car. If I want to see a car, I can just have someone render it in computer and just see the car. In an environment, everything can be your tools if you know how to use them.

Thank you all for all your tips which were both helpful and humorous. The use of the circular polarized filter was the most helpful.

The car is precision maintained and is kept spotless with a liquid gloss finish without any swirl marks or spiderwebs on the paint. I want to try to convey that perfect paint finish in photos.

I will be posting more pictures in the future.

Once I had to shoot a car and had to light it only with a couple of speedlights. I did the following:
- Set the camera on a steady tripod;
- Used a remote controller to avoid cam shake;
- Placed a black cardboard snoot on the strobe;
- Took multiple exposures, lighting separately each part of the car and highlighting the parts I wanted to create proper reflection;
- Combined multiple exposures in PS.
Using this technique, it's perfect possible to light a car with a single strobe.

I have a Ford Explorer that photographs very easily, if you would like to trade...

:lmao: I was thinking the same thing ... my Trailblazer has low mileage ...

#1 Looks like its out of focus, and a bit soft overall. Also, wheels should be turned so that the rim is visable and not the tire tread.

#2 I like quite a bit. but could probably be framed or cropped slightly differently. Excellent reflections in the black. It really shows the shape and curves of the car.

#3 Again, wheels turned wrong way, and focus seems a bit off. I would either stop it down more to get everything perfect in focus, or stop it up to blur out the background a bit more.

Heh, that point & shoot guy is on vw vortex too.

To the OP, you're a total goon coming on a website and announcing a car like that. Any person with a sense of humility wpuld have said "black car"

Surely this is just an e-peen post to try and get recognition about something that I could care less about. Notice that he is still putting pictures up even though he has been offered great information. He hasn't gotten the reaction he expected ;)

depends on what ur looking for, if you want a lot of attention, go for red, but thats definitely a cop magnet, otherwise i would go for orange on the outside, and black leather on the inside, but your choice.
