Pentax MX and repaired cameras

I recently found a Pentax MX (mid 1970's I think) and a 50 mm f/1.8 lense what digging through storage. I think it would be a great all manual camera to learn on and have as a back up body, however it doesn't seem to be in good working order and I was wondering if anyone knew much about this camera or the costs and worth of getting a camera repaired.

This set-up probably goes for $90 or less (probably much less) on Ebay in working condition.

You may be able to find a better deal, but I'd estimate the repair cost would be $75 to $125.

These days 35mm film cameras are going cheap. Unless there is some sort of collector value, I wouldn't consider taking a broken 35mm SLR for more than FREE!

would you consider selling the 50mm lens separately? I got a pentax mz10 body, looking for a good 50mm lens

If I can't get the camera to work I would consider selling the lens. I'll get the specs for the lens and post them when I get home.
